Miami-Dade County Youth Fair wins 11 awards at international competition

MIAMI - Dec. 17, 2014 - PRLog -- The Miami-Dade County Youth Fair & Exposition (http://www.thefair.me/thefair/) announced that it received an unprecedented 11 awards for excellence from the annual International Association of Fairs and Expositions (IAFE) (https://www.fairsandexpos.com) competition, which is judged by industry leaders from across the United States and Canada.

“It is a great honor to be recognized by our peers for the magnificent work performed by our tenacious staff members on behalf of the families and students of Miami-Dade County. We are proud that our Youth Fair continues to rank high among all the other fairs and expositions taking place across the United States and Canada,” said Robert Hohenstein, president and CEO.

Youth Fair employees accepted the five first place awards, two second-place awards and four third-place awards in December at the annual IAFE convention in Las Vegas. Representatives from 1,200 fairs around the globe attend the convention and trade show. The Youth Fair delegation took the opportunity to showcase its winning exhibits, attend educational seminars and evaluate new entertainment and vendors.

The awards are as follows:

o  Best in category for new means of promoting agriculture for The Youth Fair’s interactive display “On the Moo-ve: The Journey of Dairy from Farm to Table,” which highlights the dairy industry.

o  Best television ad

o  Best radio ad

o  Best commemorative poster

o  Best marketing campaign

·    Second place categories:

o Overall program for competitive agricultural exhibitors

o Competitive agricultural exhibits and unique advertising specialties, merchandise and souvenirs

·    Third place categories:

o Competitive exhibits display photo

o Overall agricultural program for the non-agricultural fair-going public

o Electronic newsletter

o Printed promotional material

The Youth Fair is a not-for-profit, private organization that awards annually more than $300,000 annually in college scholarships and cash premiums and awards to local public, private, charter and home school students. To date, The Youth Fair has awarded well above $10 million to Miami-Dade students to help them achieve higher education. In 2014, it awarded $90,000 in college scholarships, including $7,000 to winners of Miami-Dade County Public School’s inaugural Elie Wiesel Foundation Prize in Ethics Essay Contest. The annual Youth Fair is the only venue where students can showcase their educational, art and science achievements all in one place and be rewarded for their efforts.
