The Richi Childhood Cancer Foundation Successfully Hosted Its Winter Wonderland Family Festival

BROOKLINE, Mass. - Dec. 17, 2014 - PRLog -- Over 500 people gathered last Sunday December 14th at the Brookline Teen Center, in Brookline, to take part in the 1st edition of the Richi Foundation’s Winter Wonderland Family Festival. Assisted by an enthusiastic team of volunteers, children and their parents enjoyed an afternoon filled with fun activities that this local nonprofit put together as a way to thank the Boston community for their encouraging support through 2014.

"When we started working on this event last September, we couldn't think of a better outcome than seeing this place packed", said Ricardo Garcia, the Richi Foundation's founder. "Our whole project is fueled by the idea that making people smile is just a first step in battling childhood cancer. And today, all I can see are happy faces", said Garcia referring to Richi Foundation motto "Smile To Cure".

In a Holiday-themed setting decorated for the occasion, the little ones had the opportunity to keep themselves entertained with gingerbread cookie decorating, holiday arts & crafts, wall climbing, bowling, among other activities. Some of the highlights of the day included a magic show and a one-on-one with Santa Claus.

The Richi Foundation’s Winter Wonderland Family Festival was possible thanks to the generosity of Brookline's branch of Unlimited Sotheby’s International Realty, which participated in the event as a Gold Sponsor, and several local businesses that donated food and beverages.

The Richi Foundation is an organization devoted to helping alleviate the strain that a life threatening illness puts upon children with cancer and their family. In partnership with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund, this nonprofit also supports research focused on finding cures for childhood cancer.
