Department of Colorado Begins the High School Oratorical Completion

DENVER - Dec. 17, 2014 - PRLog -- The Annual Legion Colorado State Oratorical Contest for High School Students will be held on January 3, 2015 at Arapahoe Community College, located at 5900 South Santé Fe Drive, in Littleton, CO.

Students from Communities across the state, sponsored by their American Legion Post, will begin competition at 9:00 am, with prepared orations about The US Constitution, chosen by the participant, which is 8 to 10 minutes in length, without notes or any electronic aid. Then they will give a 3 to 5 minute speech on one of four amendments to Constitution, which will be drawn after the completion has begun.

Scholarship Funds will be awarded. The overall winner will attend the National Competition in Indianapolis in the spring. Last year’s Colorado winner took third place in the National Contest in April 2014.

This year’s contest is under the direction of Roger Masse and Ed Pietch, co-chairmen of the Department Oratorical Committee. The Oratorical Committee has been silent on the exact number of participates but has expressed that the number could reach 23.
