The Fine Arts Discovery Series set to launch a new Cultural Series of Events at The Sherman Theater

STROUDSBURG, Pa. - Dec. 16, 2014 - PRLog -- The Sherman Theater is excited to announce the reintroduction of the Fine Arts Discovery Series of cultural events. This new direction will involve a series of events focused on different segments of the community as well as providing opportunities for the community to experience more arts and culture in the Monroe County Region. “Bringing the arts to the forefront and to provide the opportunity for couples to enjoy a back to basics Dinner Theater is a bold and exciting adventure,” said Dennis Jeter, who has been named the artistic director of the series along with a Community Action Board to include: Mr. Jeter, Robbie Romango, Lorna O’Farrell, Scott Judy, Gil Coronado, and Adam Niewood.

The confirmed events for this first phase of the series include a Doo-Wop, Latin Experience, American Song Book, Jazz and as a throwback to the origins of the Sherman theater a night of Vaudeville and Burlesque.  This committee is committed to seeing new culture being offered here in Monroe County, as this will provide the Sherman Theater with a growing membership and presence necessary to sustain the Sherman Theater in the future. The Sherman has recently completed a major renovation and upgrade over the past year, to broaden the appeal to the community and performers.

“After 10 years of hard work in establishing the Sherman Theater as a world class venue, we have finally gotten the theater to the point of expanding the offerings, beyond popular rock shows, and allow Monroe County to compete for art and cultural offerings,” says Rich Berkowitz, President and CEO.


New Supper Club events starting with a Doo-Wop Experience 1/30/2015 and Latin Experience 1/31/2015 will set the pace for the future upcoming events in this series, (American Song Book, Ballads & Bouquets and bringing everyone back to the roots of the Sherman Theater, Vaudeville/Burlesque). The Doo-Wop Experience will feature Joey and the T-Birds, with opening act The Paramounts.  "The Doo-Wop shows from yesterday have found a fitting venue in the Sherman Theater. Providing dinner and a show with songs from the 50's & 60's against the backdrop of the historical theater makes for a memorable evening" says Community Action Boardmember and Joey and the T-Birds bandmember, Robbie Romagno.


The "Latin Experience" Supper Club (1/31) will feature International Australian Latin performer, Natalia Segura and Pennsylvania Band, Los Monstors, who will bring in a full 12 piece band and provide guests with Salsa, Merengue and Bachatta. DJ Ruby will keep the music flowing through out the evenings live performances

VIP Guests for these events will receive dinner, dessert and coffee in addition to the 2 live acts. After dinner, a general admission will provide seats for those who just want to enjoy the show.
