Fashion Umbrella Foundation Prepares for 3rd Annual Petite Model Audition

BALTIMORE - Dec. 16, 2014 - PRLog -- On December 21, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. EST the Fashion Umbrella Foundation will host its 3^rd annual petite model call for UNDER – The Petite Fashion Showcase.

The Forest Park Senior Center (FPSC) is the host venue for the petite model call.  Located at 4801 Liberty Heights Avenue, the FPSC is the home venue for the Foundation’s auditions, meetings, and workshops.

“Having a venue in Baltimore City, while supporting another non-profit is essential in today’s economic structure,” stated Sharan Nixon, Executive Director, Fashion Umbrella Foundation.

The Foundation expects this casting to be its biggest petite audition in 3 years.  Emails have been received from models located in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia, who have expressed an interest to participate in this event.

Models, male and female must stand at a barefoot height of 5’ 7” or shorter to be considered for this event.  Designers registered for this event are excited about a platform that focuses solely on the petite community.  Advance registration for designers interested in UNDER ends December 31, 2014.

In 2009 the Executive Producer of Baltimore Fashion Week was accosted by 2 petite models who were very displeased with the decision of not being approved to participate in Baltimore Fashion Week and stated, “I wish is was taller, so I could participate in your events.”  With a statement that strong the Executive Producer felt the need to create such an event and in 2013, UNDER was born.

“For models who will never reach the industry standard height of 5’ 10” or taller, UNDER is the perfect platform to allow models standing 5’ 7” or shorter an opportunity to showcase fashion collections while being a strong representation for the petite fashion community” stated Nixon.

Registration for models and designers interested in participating in UNDER is currently underway.  Registration forms are available on the Foundation’s websites: www.fashionumbrella.org and www.undertheevent.com.
