Alfredo Piatti (1822-1901) is known for composing one of the most difficult set of pieces for the violoncello. The 12 Caprices is a set recognized for its technical difficulty and complexity, equivalent to the Niccolò Paganini 24 Caprices for Solo Violin. Twenty five year old Carmine Miranda was also awarded “Best Emerging Artist”, “Best Instrumentalist” Other critics have said “And so, from memorable moment to memorable moment, Carmine Miranda adds a second recording to his growing legacy” and “our guess is that from this point forward Carmine's talent will always be in high demand”.
