DETROIT - Dec. 15, 2014 - PRLog -- Homeowners lost over $664 million dollars to home improvement fraud in 2013, according to the FTC.

SaferBuild LLC, a tech start up founded by 25 year old Stephanie Goodman, is designing an updated payment solution to push scammers out of the industry.

“The construction industry has been using a broken process for the past 100 years, resulting in homeowners being defrauded out of millions.” states Goodman. “Our payment system will improve this process substantially for both homeowners and contractors.”

To date, the company has secured over $50,000 in private investments, and will be launching a crowd funding campaign through IndieGoGo, starting February 2015.

The SaferBuild system, which is scheduled to launch by mid-April, will allow homeowners to pay contractors via an online payment portal, where funds are held for disbursement until after the home improvement project is completed.

Stephanie Goodman is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan with several years of experience in the construction industry. She decided to found the company after being defrauded by multiple contractors.
