SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Dec. 14, 2014 - PRLog -- Pocketfiction is pleased to announce that a HTML5-based client is now in development for the multiplayer networked game Imperium. This allows you to get a full experience on most platforms without needing a native client. The client makes use of several javascript extensions and features like LocalStorage to improve your experience.

It is available for testing and you can view the main website at https:/EmpireDirectory.net or go directly to the game at http://EmpireDirectory.net/jsImp

What is Imperium? Imperium is a multiplayer strategy game that started development back in the 1990's but was never fully completed till 2014. It allows you to start out in a small ship on your races home planet and explore the galaxies and other planets in conquest. It supports up to 95 players at a time/per game and is totally open-source. Has many features that predate the modern internet like multiuser chat, real-time multiplayer activity, large size universes, etc.

Features:

* Universe sizes up to 256x256, 100 subsections in each for total size of 2560x2560

* Built-in Multiuser Chat

* Games can last several months featuring both timed and realtime activity

* Several difference races to choose from, each with its own home planet

* Contribute items to your home planet and they will be available to all the players of that race

Other clients can use a telnet app instead of this app, but this app will support things like command queues, scrollable windows for things like ship and planet inventories, etc.
