MASHANTUCKET, Conn. - Dec. 12, 2014 - PRLog -- After graduating from Georgetown University, Gaffigan moved to NYC to work in advertising while taking improv classes at night. His comedy career began when a friend bet him to do stand-up. Since then (2008), Gaffigan - whose routines or skits typically relate to being lazy and eating food - has been tearing up comedy clubs across the country and leaving the audiences in stitches.

Gaffigan’s first album, “Beyond the Pale,” which consisted primarily of material regarding food and American eating habits, was accompanied by an hour-long special on Comedy Central to the same name. Gaffigan’s 2009 follow-up album, “King Baby,” was also a television special at the end of his scrutinized "The Sexy Tour."

In a March 2009 interview on “Anytime with Bob Kushell,” Gaffigan defended his naming of “The Sexy Tour,” stating that he thought it would be funny if parents would be unsure about whether to bring their teenage children to the show.Four years later, on March 14, 2013, Gaffigan was named the "King of Clean" by the Wall Street Journal.

Gaffigan filmed his 2014 comedy special titled “Jim Gaffigan: Obsessed” at the Wilbur Theater in Boston, MA. “Obsessed” premiered on Comedy Central becoming the most watched stand-up comedy special of 2014 for the network. The accompanying album, also debuted at #11 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Billboard Comedy Album charts.

In the spring of 2014, Gaffigan received the award for Concert Comedian at the “American Comedy Awards” for his comedic work on and off-screen.

On the big-screen and small-screen, Gaffigan has appeared in Mike Myers’ “The Love Guru,” the Sam Mendes-directed dramedy, “Away We Go,” and the teen comedy “17 Again.” He’s also guest starred in one episode of HBO’s comedy series “Flight of the Conchords,” “Law & Order,” and “Law and Order: Criminal Intent.”

Aside from stand-up and the silver screen, Gaffigan has produced a series of animated shorts for “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” titled “Pale Force,” in which the animated Gaffigan and O'Brien are superheroes who fight crime with their extremely pale skin. The series was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in 2007 in the category of "Outstanding Broadband Program – Comedy.”

Gaffigan's hilarious writing stretches from the depths of social media to the pages of hardcover. His humorous quips have earned him over two million followers on Twitter, and he was listed by Rolling Stone as one of the "25 funniest people on Twitter" in 2012.Gaffigan's 2013 memoir “Dad Is Fat” debuted to a #5 ranking on The New York Time’s Best Seller's list for 3 months. His second book, a book of comic essays, entitled, “Food: A Love Story” was released in fall 2014.
