Local Head Start Program Awarded Federal Partnership Grant

White House Announces Early Head Start-Child Care Partnerships Grantees

WASHINGTON, DC – Yesterday, at the White House Summit on Early Education, it was announced that The Leaguers, Inc. would be awarded an Early Head Start-Child Care Partnership grant, which will fund collaboration between Unified Vailsburg Service Organization and Harmony Education local child care programs to expand high quality early learning opportunities for Newark and Irvington Township’s most vulnerable infants and toddlers.

“This grant will empower The Leaguers, Inc. to build on long-standing community relationships and work with local child care providers to address the desperate need for high quality care for infants and toddlers in Newark and Irvington Township,” Veronica Ray, CEO said. “We look forward to strengthening these partnerships and continuing to lay a foundation for success for our community’s at-risk children.”

The grantees were announced at the White House Summit on Early Education, where leaders in the early education community gathered to support President Obama’s commitment to expanding access to high-quality early education opportunities for children across the country.
