Animal Rescue Charity Receives Public-Driven Donation

CAPE TOWN, South Africa - Dec. 12, 2014 - PRLog -- Pro-life animal rescue organisation, Lucky Lucy, formally received a public-voted donation for funds towards fuel at the sponsor’s dealership in Kuilsriver. The handover took place on Thursday 11 December 2014 with votes for the funds being garnered during October and November. The competition aimed to get as many people to vote for the competition as possible with each vote being equated to R2’s worth of fuel for the organisation. At the end of the competition, public voters had garnered fuel to the value of R5 726 for the organisation.

This competition, sponsored by Group 1 Nissan, was the first of its kind, marrying corporate social responsibility with individual social responsibility and a charity’s own fundraising efforts.

Voters were asked to decide which of Lucky Lucy’s dogs looked most like the popular new Nissan Qashqai (http://www.group1nissan.co.za/nissan-qashqai/). The dog who claimed the title of the Qashqai Twin was a staffie-type rescue called Boomer.

Lance St. Clair, Dealer Principal at Kuilsriver, officially handed over the funds to Richard Green who is involved in fundraising on behalf of Lucky Lucy.

“We appreciate the effort Group 1 put into the partnership and I assure you that we will put the fuel to good use. We would also like to thank the individuals who put their weight behind the initiative and showed their support for animals in need. It is really the public who has the power to make a difference to the lives of rescued animals and this is just one of the many ways that they can show their support” said Richard Green when receiving the donation.

Group 1 Nissan is planning to run a similar initiative with another charity in the New Year which will be publicised on their Facebook page.
