Leilani's journey fighting the battle with cancer

LAS VEGAS - Dec. 11, 2014 - PRLog -- Friends and family in the Las Vegas community have always rallied around each other in times of need. Whether it’s been for a neighbor fighting cancer or a family who lost their house in a fire, those in the community have long held fundraising events like spaghetti dinners and silent auctions to help their neighbors through difficult times.

Now, through a growing trend called crowdfunding, they are taking these efforts online.  Friends and family of Leilani Del Toro have set up a crowdfunding page on the popular crowdfunding website, GiveForward.com.  More than one million people have contributed over $100 million on GiveForward with 99 cents out of every dollar going directly to the people in need.

So far the friends and family of Leilani del Toro have raised $1,815 for medical costs such as transportation, a reclining wheelchair, hospital bed, and gurney transport, since the campaign launched on November 20, 2014.

Leilani (Lani) has been fighting the battle with cancer and after 2 years of healthy living, she has relapsed. Doctors recently performed 2 major brain surgeries in a very short period of time. Though she is recovering well and her spirit is inspiring, the family can no longer fight this battle alone as costs are beginning to accrue. Any financial help received will assist in defraying these medical costs.
