WATERBURY, Conn. - Dec. 10, 2014 - PRLog -- On December 9, 2014, Marcel Veronneau, CEO, and Janice Shannon, president, of The Industrial Management & Training Institute (IMTI) in Waterbury, and Don Mroz, Ph.D., president, and Dr. Jane Bailey, provost, of Post University in Waterbury, officially signed a partnership agreement to support the continuing education needs of IMTI’s technical students and graduates.

At the agreement signing event, Marcel Veronneau stated, “This collaborative agreement with Post University’s Malcolm Baldrige School of Business will provide our IMTI students taking our courses in the technical fields of HVAC, electrical and plumbing with the tools to succeed as business owners as well as certified professional technicians. We know that unfortunately many excellent contractors fail due to their lack of business management knowledge. As part of our continual commitment to our students’ future success, IMTI has worked for several years to create this agreement with Post University to offer professional continuing education courses for our students who are future licensed contractors. We believe that a technically-focused student who also has business knowledge is equates to a much better employee who also understands the management aspects of a company.”

Founded by Veronneau in 1986, IMTI has been successfully training electricians, plumbers, and HVAC technicians in current technologies and career-oriented job skills. Curriculum for all IMTI programs focuses on classroom study and practical hands-on industry skill training. All IMTI graduates are equipped with the training, assistance, and education needed to obtain careers in today’s high demand technical industries and they receive all the related instruction necessary to obtain a State of Connecticut license immediately upon graduation.

As part of the newly-signed partnership agreement, Post University will offer a 10 percent tuition grant to current IMTI students as well as all IMTI alumni who want to enroll in any of the University’s online accelerated undergraduate degree programs. Through special articulation agreements, IMTI students will also be eligible to receive college credits toward a Post University business degree for qualified IMTI training and professional work experience. Credit will be granted based on a prior learning assessment conducted by Post University. Students will be able to complete their degrees entirely online or by taking a combination of online and on-campus courses offered during evenings and weekends at one of three regional locations in the state.

Don Mroz, Ph.D., president of Post University and founding dean of the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business commented at the signing ceremony,“This is truly a wonderful example of how two educational institutions can work together to provide students with the education they need, in the way they need it. Partnerships such as this recognize the growing need to offer flexible ways for working professionals to leverage their training and experience and accelerate their path to a college degree.”

Post University CEO Dr. Tom Samph added, “This is an excellent merger because young men and women do not need to go beyond Waterbury to get the education and technical training demanded today to succeed. They are our future, and if they can get the thorough education they need to succeed here in Waterbury that is a true plus for everyone. This merger is a true win-win for all of us.”

IMTI was initially accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) in 1989 and was awarding its most recent five year accreditation in March 2014. In 2010 IMTI was recognized by the ACCSC as a School of Distinction. IMTI is also approved by the State of Connecticut and the National Center for Construction Education and Research.

In 2015, Post University will celebrate its 125th anniversary. It offers a student-focused, career-driven education designed to provide students with the knowledge, personal skills, and the experience required to be leaders in their chosen fields. Post University offers a wide array of undergraduate and graduate degree programs for on-campus and online students of all ages, and is known for its quality, career-driven academic programs, small classes, and competitive NCAA Division II athletics.
