Fisher & Paykel Healthcare opens new manufacturing room in Tijuana, Mexico

TIJUANA, Mexico - Dec. 9, 2014 - PRLog -- This past Thursday December 7, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare celebrated the opening of a new manufacturing room in its plant in the city of Tijuana. The company of New Zealander origin is a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of products and systems for use in respiratory care, acute care, and the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea. Thanks to an estimated investment of $4 million dollars, the plant now includes an extension that consists of a controlled environment manufacturing area of around 3,500 square meters in addition to 2 existing 1,900 square meter areas.

The opening ceremony was attended by Governor Francisco “Kiko” Vega, Secretary of Economic Development Carlo Humberto Bonfante, Mayor Dr. Jorge Astiazaran Orci, and the Counselor of the New Zealand Embassy in Mexico Jorge Arguelles. Additionally present were distinguished members of Fisher & Paykel such as the Vicepresident of Products and Technology Sr. Lewis Gradon and the Director of Operations in Mexico Raúl Sánchez Castañeda.

During the ceremony, Governor Fracisco Vega acknowledged the fact that Fisher & Paykel Healthcare gives jobs to 520 people, and thanks to this new extension the number will be more than 700. Furthermore, he thanked the company for the fact that it continues to be, since its opening in Tijuana in 2009, part of the economic strength and vigor of the city.

The company entered the market in 1971 and today has direct sales offices in most major markets and a network of distributors that sell to hospitals, homecare providers and other manufacturers of medical devices.
