DENVER - Dec. 9, 2014 - PRLog -- Sharing a desire to implement environmentally conscious business solutions, the global standard for sustainability in the Managed Print Services (MPS) industry has been introduced to paper consumers in the Illawarra Region of Australia.

PrintReleaf, https://www.printreleaf.com/, the first technology platform to enable cloud-based paper tracking and reforestation, has connected the PrintReleaf Exchange (PRX) to its first international channel partner, The BMS Group, http://www.thebmsgroup.com.au/. This strategic partnership allows The BMS Group to provide its customers with an innovative and authentic way to promote sustainable business practices and reduce the environmental impacts that can result from the use of forest products, such as printing.

PRX measures paper consumption through a patent-pending aggregation process that uses the automatic transmission of device and fleet data collected by print management software on imaging devices.

“As part of an industry that depends on paper usage, we have a direct responsibility to give back what we take in an effort to lessen our impact on the environment,” said Shaun Minogue, senior partner of The BMS Group. “It is our personal belief that we need to take action and because PrintReleaf certifies its reforestation process through SGS International, we can be certain that our efforts are accurate and authentic.”

With PRX, customers “releaf,” or reforest, their paper consumption by planting new trees – equivalent to their paper use – at global reforestation project sites of their choice. Through PrintReleaf’s integration with Global Forest Watch, a platform hosted by the World Resources Institute, customer’s interface with heat map technology that represents forest loss and gain across the globe, showing them which areas the planet needs trees most. After selecting where they want their paper releafed, customers can use their online portal to track the evolution, growth, and survival of their trees over an approximate eight-year time frame for each tree.

“We are activating PrintReleaf progressively over the coming months for all our customers, commencing with several local government, education and professional service firms,” added Minogue. “Since launching the service merely two months ago, we’ve collectively releafed more than 250 trees between The BMS Group and its participating customers. And, it’s hoped that by mid-2015, when all our customers are on board, we will be reforesting more than 1,900 trees each month.”

This partnership also provides The BMS Group and its’ customers with the option to integrate social media, automatically sharing monthly Twitter and Facebook announcements of releaf transactions to promote their active participation in sustainable business practices.

Since the company was founded, PrintReleaf has measured nearly 100 million pages, which will lead to the releafing of more than 11,500 trees. PrintReleaf reforests at a generally accepted rate of 8,333 sheets of paper per tree (this equation is detailed in PrintReleaf’s global standard for sustainability).
