FPANJ Names Leslie T. Beck as 2014 Heart of Financial Planning Award Recipient

Past President and FPA Alliance Forum Chair is cited for her ability to lead and serve for the benefit of the profession

Dec. 5, 2014 - PRLog -- Upper Montclair, NJ (NOVEMBER 2014) – The Financial Planning Association of New Jersey (FPANJ) recently named Leslie T. Beck as its Heart of Financial Planning Award recipient for 2014.

Beck owns Compass Wealth Management LLC in Wood Ridge, NJ and is a past president of FPANJ. She also chaired the FPA’s Alliance Forum, which is a group of the 12 largest FPA chapters that meet twice a year. The Alliance’s core purpose is to provide a forum for Chapter Leaders with common interests and concerns. The Alliance also provides the opportunity to become more effective leaders and to leverage efforts through sharing of ideas, systems and goals, provide advice and support to each other, and joining on issues involving advocacy.

Beck also served on FPANJ’s Board of Directors and headed their Public Relations Committee. Her work with the Alliance Forum has earned her the recognition of serving as a liaison, as well as bringing about a new sense of collaboration and synergy to the group, according to her colleagues.

In presenting the award to her at its Fall Conference, President-Elect Bill Stratton cited Beck’s ability to turn the Forum “from a meet and greet group into a true ‘call-to-action’forum where ideas emerged, and an actionable plan was developed.”

“She has a passion for financial planning, and is a detailed person who dives into things to make sure she gets it right, which truly advances the profession. She’s selfless and dedicated and she carries that into her committee work as well,”Stratton added.

“I’m honored to be a recipient of the Heart of Financial Planning award.   I have received so much benefit from my FPA membership, but I must say most of that was a direct result of my active involvement in FPANJ, and the relationships I developed there.  I would encourage every member to become more involved in the local chapter –as the saying goes, you definitely get more out of it than you put in.”

Beck’s award at the chapter level qualifies her for consideration at the FPA national level, which will recognize its winner in August 2015.
