Ribbon-Cutting Celebration for Detroit’s Newest Solar-Powered Bus Shelter

Brasco Designs Custom Shelter with Sustainable Energy and High Cloud Coverage Solar Package

DETROIT - Dec. 5, 2014 - PRLog -- DETROIT, MI —On Thursday morning, December 4th local supporters gathered to celebrate what has been a great year for Detroit!  The City’s public transit system has been lacking for years, but change is well underway.  Detroit-based shelter manufacturer, Brasco International, rallied behind the City’s efforts and donated a solar-powered shelter as a thank you to Midtown for spearheading revitalization efforts.

The donated shelter was specifically designed for Detroit with low maintenance costs, renewable energy, and a “2035 design”.  Features include its aluminum construction so it will never rust, a solar powered LED lighting package suited for high cloud coverage, a zero VOC (volatile organic compound) powder coat paint, and specialty wood grain aluminum rafters.  Matching bench and trash receptacle to be installed next week. All materials are USA made by Brasco International in Madison Heights, MI.  Route & map displays to be donated by Let’s Bus It.

The bus shelter is located outside of Whole Foods Market at the corner of John R and Mack Ave and will  service both DDOT and SMART bus routes.

Present at the event were representatives from DDOT, including Director Dan Dirks, today’s ribbon cutter, and representatives from  Midtown Detroit Inc., SMART, Brasco International and Fox 2 News.
