MHCSEAEC (Ten Friends Diner) Announces Mental Health Awareness Campaign
‘THE HURT THAT DOESN’T SHOW”

Windsor, Nov 2014:  Mental Health Consumers/Survivors Employment Association of Essex County (MHCSEAEC) announces the launch of its campaign to help raise Mental Health Awareness.  The international campaign is in its first year.  It presents a challenge to individuals and companies to wear a lime green Bandage for 24 hours and who in turn challenge others in an effort to help raise Mental Health Awareness and raise funds for mental health programs and services.

The international “the hurt that doesn’t show” campaign is setup primarily as an online challenge via social networks, email and various other digital media.  The goal is to get people talking about Mental Illness/Health and help break the existing stigma.  Through the visual aid of the bandage, placed on a prominent position on the face/head it is hoped that this will stimulate people to talk about Mental Illnesses and Mental Health to help spread awareness about the realities, not the disabilities of living with a Mental Illness.   As a dual purpose it is hoped that through donations to MHCSEAEC,  the organization will be able to make a greater impact in the community for outreach on awareness and also provide services to those who live/deal with Mental Illnesses and Health issues.  New partners are considering adopting the campaign to meet their outreach objectives in their communities.  Ten Friends is encouraged by the reception to date by new Mental Health organizations partners to further the aims of the campaign.

MHCSEAEC/Ten Friends Diner will report news and updates on the campaign via several media.  Socially; via social networks, through its two websites (www.tenfriendsdiner.com and www.limegreencare.com) as well as through a quarterly newsletter which is distributed in print.

Located in Windsor, ON, Canada, MHCSEAEC/Ten Friends Diner is a mental health program, partially funded through the Erie-St Clair LHIN.  The MHCSEAEC mandate is to support and train individuals with mental illness to gain employment or become self-employed through a peer to peer guided initiative.   MHCSEAEC/Ten Friends Diner also leverages funds via the Ten Friends Diner Mental Health Program as well as through donations and fundraisers.
