Michele Myers Receives NC Building Performance Association Industry Pioneer Award for 2014

DURHAM, N.C. - Dec. 4, 2014 - PRLog -- Michele Myers, President and General Contractor of M Squared Builders & Designers, was recently recognized at the North Carolina Building Performance Association (NCBPA) Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner with the Industry Pioneer Award for 2014. According to Ryan Miller, NCBPA Founder and Executive Director, Myers was chosen by the NCBPA’s Board of Directors to receive this first-ever award in recognition of her contributions in the industry.

“We wanted to recognize Michele’s ‘pioneerism’ and continuing contributions,” said Miller. Comments made by Miller during the presentation included Myers’ creation of opportunities and fighting of battles, her dedicated personal and professional support, her ability to break down barriers and carry the flag, her service as an advocate and inspiration, and her ongoing commitment to contribute and serve.

NCBPA is an organization of North Carolina building performance professionals and companies seeking to lead high performance construction in the state through quality construction, workforce development, political advocacy, public education and more. Goals include improving the quality of buildings in North Carolina so that all residents and businesses can live and work in healthy, safe, durable, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly homes and buildings.

Myers is a seasoned professional with over 34 years of experience in project management, contracting and systems engineering. With a Masters Degree in management and an educational background in construction, building science, environmental science and chemistry, Myers has pursued a lifelong interest in improving the environment. She is not a “convert” to healthy green building; going into her 19th year as a home builder, Myers is a healthy green pioneer. She has been described as being “healthy and green before healthy and green became cool.”
