Follow on Google News | Palo Duro High School and McDonald’s Partner for McEducator NightBy: Amarillo Area Foundation The restaurant is putting the Palo Duro staff to work and will have the high school’s educators working behind the counter serving customers in support of the ACE Scholarship Program. “Our teachers know how important ACE is for our students,” said Sandy Whitlow, Principal at Palo Duro High School. “They’re willing to do almost anything to make sure ACE stays in our schools, and grilling burgers is a fun way to help.” The reopening of this McDonald’s will be a special night as the restaurant supports education it the community after months of rebuilding from the semi accident that destroyed their building. “It’s a new beginning for this restaurant, and they’re providing new beginnings for our students,” said Clay Stribling, CEO and President of the Amarillo Area Foundation. “We’re thankful to have McDonald’s supporting the education of our students. Support from our community is why the ACE Scholarship Program has been so influential and successful.” On Tuesday, we invite you to support the ACE Scholarship Program and the newly rebuilt McDonald’s by enjoying a tasty meal prepared by the Palo Duro High School staff. About the ACE Scholarship Program Since 1994, the Amarillo Area Foundation’s ACE Scholarship Program has benefitted students from Palo Duro and Caprock High Schools and since 2012 has been working with students who completed fifth grade at San Jacinto, Bivins and Margaret Wills Elementary Schools and are enrolled at Tascosa High School. To date, ACE has awarded $5.2 million in scholarship, tuition, and fees and helped 1,121 students received a certificate or degree. The scholarship program has provided the opportunity for students to attend Amarillo College and West Texas A&M University for postsecondary certificates and degrees, leading to living-wage jobs. ACE students must maintain at least an 85 grade point average, a 95% attendance record, and appropriate behavior while attending high school to qualify. End
