By: Karen I. Hirsch Hirsch used computer software to create this piece. She remarked, "I was using some new brushes in Photoshop to see what they would do, and this wondrous image emerged. There was no photo involved." In addition to her piece in the Bridge Program Exibit on the first floor, Hirsch has a number of works on the second floor in the "Front & Center" group exhibit. The closing reception and artist talk for that show is Sunday, December 14th from 2-4 PM. Hirsch is continually experimenting when creating new work. She began combining photographs when she was still using film in her camera. Now, she sometimes blends her photos with her digital paintings to produce unique images. Hirsch studied with world-renowned photographers Ernst Haas, Jay Maisel, and Arnold Newman. Jeremy Sutton taught her the art of digital painting. Her mother, also an artist, has influenced her bright color palette and appreciation for the abstract. Production of Hirsch's prints displayed at the Hyde Park Art Center were partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency. Publications that have featured Hirsch's images include Communication Arts, Graphis Photo Annual and Architectural Digest. Her prints are found in corporate and private collections. End
