MANSFIELD, Texas - Dec. 4, 2014 - PRLog -- High school students interested in becoming smarter at managing money can apply to join the Texas Trust Youth Advisory Council (YAC). The program teaches students personal financial skills that they will use throughout their lifetimes. Nominations for the council are being accepted all this month.

Membership in YAC offers leadership training and learning opportunities centered on marketing, financial services, and careers in the financial field. YAC members meet twice a month and receive a stipend for their service. The council also organizes a community service project benefiting a non-profit of their choice, and members also participate in a community event sponsored by Texas Trust.

The Spring 2015 Youth Advisory Council will serve from January through May 2015. High school students living in Arlington, Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Grand Prairie, Hurst, Kennedale, and Mansfield are eligible to join the Council. The bi-monthly meetings will be held at the Texas Trust headquarters facility at 5850 W. Interstate 20, Suite 100,  in Arlington.

“YAC teaches high school students how to manage money so that they are prepared to make smart financial decisions," said Amber Danford, senior vice president of marketing for Texas Trust.

YAC members are chosen based on their leadership credentials, extracurricular activities, and desire to serve and actively participate in the council. High school students interested in joining the council must apply by December 31.

Eligibility requirements and an online application (https://www.texastrustcu.org/pages/youth-advisory-council...) are available at the Texas Trust Credit Union website. Questions about the council can be directed to Jessica White at 972-595-1776.
