NEEDHAM, Mass. - Dec. 3, 2014 - PRLog -- The Residences at Wingate (www.residencesatwingate.com), Needham’s only 5-star senior living community, today announced they have been recognized with five local and national awards. In addition to securing Hometown Weekly newspapers’ #1 Retirement Living in the Region and #1 Retirement Living Residence in Needham awards, the community was selected from amongst thousands of other independent living, assisted living and memory care communities for three major national awards including MultiFamily Executive’s  2014 Grand Award for Senior Housing, Assisted Living Federation of America’s (ALFA) Excellence Award for Senior Living by Design and McKnight’s Excellence in Technology Bronze Award for High Tech/High Touch.

“To win not one, but five awards within such a short period of time is a phenomenal achievement and I couldn’t be more proud of the wonderful resource we’ve created for the greater Needham community,” said Scott Schuster, Founder & President of Wingate Healthcare.

MultiFamily Executive Magazine’s 2014 industry award program highlighted outstanding achievements in creative solutions, consummate design, savvy financing and overcoming development challenges. One of just two senior housing communities to be awarded, The Residences at Wingate took home the Grand award for successfully bringing hospitality design concepts to a senior audience in a practical yet aesthetically pleasing way. Some of the unique amenities that were highlighted include courtyards, a fire pit, water features and more. In addition, the community was applauded for creating flexible spaces, such as apartments featuring sleeping areas with sliding doors that can be used to open up the entire space.

Similarly, The Residences at Wingate was also one of only six communities to be recognized in ALFA’s annual Senior Living By Design Awards, which recognizes innovative design solutions that honor resident choice, promote independence and raise the bar of excellence for the entire industry. Judges applauded the community for a host of amenities designed to entice today’s generation of seniors, a memory care wing featuring a circulation plan to facilitate memory stimulation while reducing confusion, as well as for a host of functional design elements that combine contemporary sophistication with natural materials.

In addition to being recognized for design, The Residences at Wingate was applauded by McKnight’s Long-Term Care News for superior efforts in harnessing technology to improve staff-resident interaction. Residents are able to stay connected with staff and the rest of the community from anywhere in the building thanks to a plethora of touch-screen LED TV’s throughout the facility featuring key staff, activities, amenities and more.

Located adjacent to the Wingate at Needham skilled care facility, The Residences at Wingate offers hospitality and healthcare all on one campus. The luxurious 91-unit independent living, assisted living and memory care community is home to a number of sought-after amenities including leased apartments with underground parking, restaurant-style and outdoor dining, a Wellness Center, start-of-the-art security and much more in a modern setting.

“The feedback we’ve been receiving from everyone that walks in the door has been overwhelmingly positive so it’s gratifying to see our industry receiving us in this same way,” said Maria Lastoria, Executive Director for The Residences at Wingate.
