IRVINE, Calif. - Dec. 3, 2014 - PRLog -- In partnership with the Pacific South Coast Chapter (http://www.nationalmssociety.org/Chapters/CAS) of the National MS Society, premier intellectual property law firm Fish & Tsang LLP (F&T) (http://www.fishiplaw.com/index.php) today announced a new role as title sponsor for Walk MS Orange County 2015 (http://walkcas.nationalmssociety.org/site/TR/Walk/CASWalkEvents?fr_id=25634&pg=entry), to be held at UC Irvine in April. Each year, Walk MS Orange County hosts nearly 5,000 participants and volunteers – mobilized to raise critical funds and awareness for multiple sclerosis, an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that interrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. F&T’s involvement with the nonprofit marks the first time an Orange County-based business has held the title sponsorship of an event that’s been part of the Orange County philanthropic landscape for more than 50 years.

“For more than 15 years, the title sponsorship of Walk MS in Orange County remained open as we sought to align with an authentic, committed partner,” said Chapter President Richard V. Israel. “Our new relationship with Fish & Tsang is exactly the type of association the chapter sought, and we are thrilled to announce the firm as the Orange County title sponsor!”

F&T has a history of corporate philanthropy since being founded in 2007. The firm has devoted considerable time and resources to Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (PCRF), Children of the Nations and Challenged Athletes Foundation and participated in PCRF’s Annual Researching for the Cure Run & Ride. Specific to MS, F&T Partner Mei Tsang (http://fishiplaw.com/mei-tsang-esq) owns close ties to the disease after longtime family friend Virginia Phillips, an Indiana-based artist, was diagnosed in 1998.

“As an IP firm, everyone at Fish & Tsang deeply values science, which is often at the core of the groundbreaking work undertaken by our clients,” said F&T Founding Partner Robert (Bob) D. Fish (http://fishiplaw.com/robert-fish-esq). “When presented with the opportunity to help support scientific discoveries being made to find a cure for a devastating disease like MS, we jumped at it passionately and hope to help move a step closer to a world free of MS.”

In addition to its title sponsorship, the firm will also walk with team Fish & Tsang and has committed to several other soon-to-be-announced MS initiatives throughout 2015. For more information on Walk MS, research and programs in the community, visit www.MSpacific.org.

About MS Pacific South Coast

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Pacific South Coast Chapter, with an office in Santa Ana, serves more than 51,500 people affected by MS living in San Diego, Orange and Imperial counties, as well as the Hawaiian islands. Affecting more than 2.3 million people worldwide, MS is an unpredictable neurological disease that interrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and the rest of the body. Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis, as well as blurred vision, loss of balance, poor coordination, slurred speech, tremors, numbness, extreme fatigue and cognitive deficits. These symptoms might be permanent, or they might come and go. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, although an estimated 8,000 to 10,000 children under the age of 18 also live with MS. Two to three times more women than men are diagnosed with the disease. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are moving us closer to a world free of MS.
