Scrap Cars Used for Fire and Rescue Training at EMR Hereford

HEREFORD, U.K. - Dec. 3, 2014 - PRLog -- Almost 200,000 road traffic accidents are reported in Great Britain every year and nearly 2,000 of these are fatal.  But for every life lost, there are many saved; something which the country’s emergency services can take most of the credit for.

Fire and Rescue Services are regularly put through intensive training which keeps response times rapid and driver and passenger recovery speeds quick.  Step forward company’s like scrap metal recycler EMR, which help make this essential hands on training possible.

EMR regularly hosts training events for the emergency services at its many depots all over the county.  The spacious nature of its sites combined with a ready stock of scrap cars that they have drained of all hazardous, flammable fluids make the company’s many scrap yards ideal places to carry out this fast paced training.

Just a few weeks ago EMR Hereford hosted its second training scenario for the Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service this year.  The on site team help used their specialist equipment to create a number of car crash scenarios for their important visitors which were then worked on tirelessly as the local fire fighters put their rescue techniques to good use again and again and again!

“This is an ideal place for us to practice our emergency procedures, we can’t thank EMR enough for making it happen,” said a spokesman for the Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service.

“We’re more than happy to help; it’s so reassuring watching them team get to work on the cars,” said Depot Manager Daniel Reast.

Following on from this, EMR hosted another training session at its Portsmouth depot last week where a group of 8 fire fighters came together to practise rescuing a (dummy) passenger from a heap of crashed cars.
