LONG ISLAND, N.Y. - Dec. 1, 2014 - PRLog -- Raising $48,000 in 45 days is not an easy task, but Long Island Inventor, Glen Simmons is doing just that with his Kickstarter Campaign slated for release in November.

This Point Lookout, NY inventor was recently one of 11 invited guests to showcase his product at The Nassau County Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club's which selected the device as the “The Next Million Dollar Idea” showcase at the Theodore Roosevelt County Executive and Legislative Building in Mineola, NY. On hand at the event were Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano; Brian Fried, president of Nassau County Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club; and Nick Turzulli, director of business development, Nassau County Industrial Development Agency.

Frustrated by the performance of complex pool cleaning systems, Glen Simmons designed what he calls an “Innovation is pool cleaning technology” called the Quack Pool Vac.  More than your run-of-the-mill pool vacuum, his patented invention “greatly reduces the time necessary to clean your pool”. The body is fabricated out of high density polyethylene and is UV resistant.

“The Quack Vac is a one-of-a-kind tool that moves all the cleaning components to the side of the pool in one simple easy to use package and is so foolproof that that anyone in the family can use it,” says Simmons. The innovative system eliminates the need to alter valve settings and balance pump pressure to the pool accessories on your existing system, making it convenient, maintenance free and easy to use which is a tradeoff when using tradition pool cleaning devices.

A dream come true for pool owners?  Yes, but, without the funds to take this project to the next level it might take years before this product can be mass produced out of his current production facility.

After scouring the internet, attending trade shows and visiting his local pool store, Simmons got frustrated with his traditional pool cleaning system and looked for an alternative self powered, cordless setup that would simplify the process of vacuuming his pool. Determined to push the concept forward, he continued to tweak the design through numerous prototypes, from a proof of concept prototype to his patented production model. However, “Being responsible for developing the concept and producing the molds and product templates made it almost impossible to finance this project on my own,” says Simmons.  This is why he decided to run a Kickstarter campaign to try and crowd-source the $48,000 necessary to mass produce the device and move into lager facilities.

Simmons approached Richard Zampella, Managing Partner of Transmultimedia, Inc., a creative services company located on Long Island to design the Kickstarter campaign. Kickstarter campaigns operate under an “all-or-nothing” funding model so if the Quack Pool Vacuum project doesn’t reach it’s goal at the end of 45 days then Simmons goes home empty-handed. Be sure to follow the quack Vac on Twitter (@quackvac) and Facebook to follow his progress and make sure to spread the word to your social media networks.  Consider donating as little as $1 to help their project come to life.  If you decide to donate more, you might be among the first to utilize the Quack Pool Vac in your own backyard.
