Follow on Google News | Carlisle Auctions Continues to Connect Collectors with ClassicsAnnual Fall AutoFest Auction Saw More than 300 Cars Cross the Block
By: Carlisle Events Thursday, November 13 was not only the first day of the Fall AutoFest event itself, it also served as a preview day for the auction. With blue skies above, the sun glistened off the tailfins, chrome and muscle that adorned the auction lot. Preview day gave enthusiasts, both serious and casual, the chance to view and review the rides that would be available come Friday morning. Popular cars included a 1954 Corvette, a ‘60s era VW Bus and a handful of masterfully built street rods. From original to restored, the auction had it all! With the auction room open early on Friday the 14th, buyers and sellers alike packed the building for what would be multiple hours of auction thrills. The level of excitement often seen on TV simply can’t compare to being part of an auction in person and that held true once more. The auction building was standing room only each day and with every slam of the gavel, the energy level grew. The Carlisle Auction team worked feverishly for hours on end to see each car across the block with the utmost TLC. Alongside the aforementioned popular rides were decades of automotive history. This included everything from ‘30s era production to modern day muscle. In between, some cool cars crossed, including a 1956 Jaguar Street Rod, while something a little more modern, a 1980 Datsun 280 ZX 2+2, was consigned by its original owner and even included much of its original paperwork. In the end, the auction saw a strong sell through rate with two top selling cars, a 1966 Corvette and a 1957 Thunderbird, both selling for $73,991. Finally, some big news came from Fall AutoFest as well. On Thursday, November 13 at 5:30 p.m., Carlisle Events and Carlisle Auctions, in conjunction with the Sun n’ Fun Complex in Lakeland, announced that effective in November 2015, the AutoFest events will be held in Lakeland at the massive Sun n’ Fun facility. The new events will be branded as Florida Fall AutoFest and Florida Winter AutoFest and will be bigger and better, offering more space, more opportunities and more excitement to an already passionate automotive base in the Tampa Bay and Central Florida regions. Consignments are ongoing for the Winter AutoFest auction backed by Carlisle Auctions in 2015. The auction is February 20-21 at Festival Park.
