Mr. Frits Van Paasschen Visits Egypt

ALEX, Egypt - Nov. 27, 2014 - PRLog -- EGYPT – November 19, 2014 – Poised for recovery in both business and leisure travel, Starwood President and CEO Frits van Paasschen together with the Regional Vice President of Operations, Mr. Hassan Ahdab and the SVP Development, Mr. Neil Georg visited Cairo last week in a 2 day tour to review the upcoming openings and developmental projects of the company.

Mr. van Paasschen visited Starwood’s newly opened Le Meridien Cairo Airport located in terminal 3 which is attached to Cairo airport building through an interconnecting bridge.

The senior leadership team also toured The Westin Cairo Golf Resort & Spa Katameya Dunes, set to open in late 2015. The Hotel is located within a prestigious and exclusive residential community with a 27-hole championship golf course designed by Nick Faldo & Brian Curley of Texas, USA and will be the development’s flagship resort.

The team proceeded to downtown Cairo at the Nile, where the 200,000m² hospitality and hotel-serviced residential complex, St. Regis Cairo, is currently under construction.

Towering 32 stories high, the St. Regis Cairo set to open in 2016 will host 292 furnished rooms 63 suites, 99 impeccably serviced guest apartments and 117 St. Regis Tower residences, 210 hotel-serviced apartments, and 32 residential apartments and penthouses. Other amenities include more than 8,000 Sq. ft of meeting and conference space, a business center, retail units, four restaurants, a lounge, an outdoor pool, a luxury spa, a fitness center, and an 800-slot underground car parking area.

The tour finished at the iconic Sheraton Cairo Hotel & Casino, located on the west bank of the Nile River, which is planned to open in late 2015.  The renovation is considered one of the most comprehensive projects including 656 guest rooms with a state-of-the-art club lounge, nine restaurants and bars, a new façade, fully-equipped business centre and health club.

The visit of the senior leadership team expresses the commitment of the company to support the country’s tourism recovery.
