By: Heart of Los Angeles For 25 years, HOLA has been dedicated to bringing resources to and meeting the needs of the at-risk youth living in the Rampart District of Los Angeles. This culturally rich, yet economically struggling neighborhood represents one of the nation’s most densely populated and diverse areas. Since HOLA first opened its doors, thousands of at-risk youth have received the highest level of instruction from a professional and dedicated staff and a volunteer corps of over 500. HOLA operates Monday through Saturday year round and all programs are free, an essential feature for the area's impoverished families. Heart of Los Angeles has three core academic programs and offers a wide variety of enrichment activities, including a comprehensive music department, a robust visual arts program, premier sports leagues andactivities, leadership and healthy living classes, and a cutting edge scientific arts program. HOLA operates on a four-building, 32,000 square foot campus in and around LaFayette Park. “We are so thrilled to be celebrating our 25th anniversary. This is an extraordinary milestone and as we look to the future, we hope to expand our reach to meet the increasing demand for our services,” said Tony Brown, HOLA’s Executive Director.
