PYLGSA Initiates Drive to Help Recent Fire Victims

PLACENTIA, Calif. - Nov. 26, 2014 - PRLog -- Michelle Hughes, Publicity Director of the Placentia Yorba Linda Girls Softball League (PYLGSA) has announced the start of a drive to aid the victims of a house fire on Sunday, November 23.

Says Hughes, speaking on behalf of the PYLGSA Board of Directors: “Members of the PYLGSA ‘family’ have suffered a terrible loss.  The Rizzo’s and their three girls have endured the recent destruction of their home by fire on November 23.

“The Rizzo’s have been staunch supporters of children’s softball, and now it’s our turn to go above and beyond the call of duty not only for the League and its kids, but to help a family in need.   While PYLGSA has a long history of taking care of its own, league members know that true champions should be magnanimous winners in the ‘game of life’ as well as on the field. The brothers and sisters of PYL have always stepped forward to show the love and compassion that make our league special.

“What a wonderful way to celebrate the true meanings of Thanksgiving and the Christmas holidays than to donate food, goods and funds to these victims. We have so much to be thankful for and realize that the true spirit of the season is one of love, thoughtfulness and giving.”

Hughes continues:  “The Rizzo family will be out of their house for a year or more.  They will be staying in a hotel or rental and need all of our support, not only NOW, but also in the upcoming months.  Food, toiletries, clothing, linens, Christmas presents for the kids…you name it, they will need it.  At this time, we will commence a major drive to deliver gift cards to the Rizzo family to lessen the impact of their loss.  Gift cards for ANY useful retail, food or service store (for any amount) is appreciated and will go a long way here.”

“To address their immediate needs, these cards will be collected and immediately given to the Rizzo family. A collection box will be provided (labeled and monitored) at: The Golden Elementary Softball Fields Snack Bar 740 E. Golden Avenue, Placentia.

Following this weekend, and for a sustained effort to continue the entire duration of this family’s need, a plan will be determined to deliver the same type of support and will be communicated to the general membership.  It is times like this that define who we are as family and friends.  Happy Thanksgiving, and see you at the fields.
