CB JENI/Normandy Homes and Starkey Mortgage Present Check to Grayson Hughes Foundation

PLANO, Texas - Nov. 26, 2014 - PRLog -- Through the Community Connection program, Starkey Mortgage (WR Starkey Mortgage, LLP NMLSR# 2146) proudly presented a check in the amount of $1750 to the Grayson Hughes Foundation on Tuesday, November 18. Susan Moore, Sales Manager with Starkey Mortgage, presented the check along with Steve Schermerhorn, Chief Financial Officer at CB Jeni/Normandy Homes. Grayson's father Lance was also in attendance.

Grayson Hughes is an eight-year-old Frisco boy who has been fighting leukemia since his diagnosis in September 2011. Capturing the heart of the community, Grayson has since been declared in remission.  His mother says even though test results show Grayson does not have any cancer cells in his body, he still faces several more rounds of chemotherapy to keep the cancer from coming back. Grayson is currently undergoing a series of chemotherapy treatments, which are scheduled to end in February 2015.

While battling cancer, friends, neighbors, acquaintances and many who do not even know him, have been determined to assist with his medical bills. As a result, the Grayson Hughes Foundation was established by fellow teachers and colleagues of Grayson’s mother, Kalee. Currently, the fundraising efforts are helping the Hughes family pay down the tremendous medical debt, but once this chapter of their lives is put behind them, it is the family’s hope to continue the foundation in an effort to help other families in similar circumstances.

Starkey Mortgage’s Community Connection program was established in 2000 to better address the needs of the community.
