Tradeline Financials - Asian Markets Higher on Range of Factors - Week 48, 2014

Key Asian markets have continued higher today after a host of factors.

Yesterday's news out of the US showing that their economy had expanded more than previously thought in the 3rd quarter helped convince investors that the global economy was fairing marginally better than previously thought. Up from 3.5% to 3.9% it is the first time in a decade that the economy has expanded 2 quarters in a month consecutively.

The rate cut applied by the Bank of China late on Friday has helped China's local indexes see some gains. The Central bank has been proactive in its approach to the seemingly stalling economy and more moves are expected as globally, central banks look to fill the gap made by the Federal Reserve's ending of QE in October.

News is expected later today from the European Commission as its head has stated that plans for a €300bn fund to revive the EU economy should be released this afternoon. The details of the fund are still to be confirmed yet it is expected to be made up from the private sector.

Finally, the day before OPEC meets we have seen that there is still no agreement between its members as to whether they will cut production. With the price per barrel still close to 4yr lows it is expected that there should be some form of reduction announced and that it could be as substantial as 100m barrels per day across the entire membership of OPEC however there has been stanch objections against this type of move.

Major Asian Indices as of 26th November 2014:

Nikkei 225 - 17,417.75 (+0.06%)

Hang Seng - 23,884.34 (+0.17%)

SSE Comp - 2,582.09 (+0.56%)
