Metropolitan Partners of Hong Kong in advanced merger talks

CENTRAL DISTRICT, Hong Kong - Nov. 25, 2014 - PRLog -- Metropolitan Partners is in advanced discussions to merge with a Hong Kong based wealth management firm.

Talks are continuing and the combination would unite the two companies built to dominate wealth management in South East Asia using technology geared towards rapid, electronic trading.

The proposed deal, which is in late stage talks, would unite the two firms that would have a combined value of nearly $20 billion in assets.

Metropolitan Partners’ President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Marcus Tsang commented on the proposed merger saying “The companies are working to finalize an agreement in a matter of weeks but the talks will likely take longer given the complex structure.  I will not disclose the information on company in question because the matter is not public, although I would like to say that I am excited about the future for our staff, partners and most importantly our clients.”

Metropolitan Partners’ Chairman and Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Alan Hughes said “Metropolitan Partners and the proposed company are working with on the proposed deal have been in talks for months, but there are many moving pieces involved.”  Mr. Hughes also added "Both parties are keen to conclude negotiations, at which stage we will issue a further statement to the public.  I am confident that the fine details will be agreed soon, which will create a more formidable competitor for the financial sector the Asia Pacific region, so if all goes to plan, the question is whether one plus one equals two."
