PHOENIX - Nov. 25, 2014 - PRLog -- Shade Projects presents “Location Series” the solo exhibition of Jeff Davis in Bokeh Gallery at the monOrchid. Local digital artist Jeff Davis creates beautiful artwork using algorithmic processes, which generated abstractions that suggest architectural references. The results are fascinating with images that appear to be abstractions of actual architecture and locations but are actually imaginary output of a computer program!

Davis uses such an intriguing process to create his work, “I write custom software in programming language, then processing that randomly determines compositional elements related to size, quantity, color, placement, and grid density within specified parameters”, says Davis. These striking abstractions “This exhibition showcases Davis’s exploration of geometric structure and color relationships through computation and iteration, while giving the viewer striking and interesting abstractions”, says Curator Nicole Royse.  She went on to say, “It has been simply amazing to see the development of this project as well as the outpouring of support Davis has received for his fundraising campaign to create “Location Series”!”

Davis launched a fundraising campaign on the microphilanthropy site Hatchfund to fund his “Location Series” project and met his initial goal of $4000 in just two weeks. The fundraising continues through December 11th, to help cover costs to document the exhibition and develop a print catalog. All contributions are tax-deductible and project supporters have the opportunity to receive original artwork in return for their donations. Davis has exhibited his artwork extensively at venues throughout the U.S. including Arizona State University, Lawrence University, the University of Minnesota, the Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena, the Fort Collins Museum of Contemporary Art, the Center for Contemporary Art in Sacramento, and the Tucson Museum of Art. Traditionally trained with a B.A. in Mathematics and Studio Art from Lawrence University, and a M.F.A. in Painting and Drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Davis currently serves as Program Director for Art Foundations at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division, where he is lead faculty and head of curriculum development.

Location Series will be on display in Bokeh Gallery at the monOrchid from December 5th until December 28th, 2014. The opening reception will be held on First Friday, December 5th from 6-10pm with the artist in attendance. An additional reception will be held on Third Friday, December 19th from 6-10pm.

The monOrchid is located at 214 E. Roosevelt Street in the heart of Phoenix's downtown arts district. The building is open daily and the exhibition may be viewed during business hours.
