Follow on Google News | Do you want to gain 12 pounds or lose 12 pounds this holiday season? The holidays can take a toll on your waistline. But the simple act of setting a goal and writing it down will increase your chances of success.
By: BrammerStrength If you want to lose 12, congratulations! Three-hour long workouts in that same week at 500 calories per workout gives you another 1,500 calories of deficit. This is the equivalent of burning one pound of pure body fat, every week! If you’re following a resistance training program, you’re probably building muscle at the same time on top of that. All you did was subtract the calories of a glass of whole milk and two pieces of toast, and spent about 1.8% of your week exercising. Not bad, right? But here’s the real kicker: If you’re allowed to eat 1,500 calories a day, that means somewhere between your daily minimums of protein and fiber, and your maximums of fat and carbohydrates, you have a huge amount of wiggle room! Never again do you need to be deprived of birthday cake, pumpkin pie, ice cream or egg nog! That second (or third or fourth) plate of Thanksgiving leftovers is no longer forbidden. There is a place in your diet for all of these, and not depriving yourself of what you really wanted all along will actually help you to stay on track to reaching your goals. After all, we want to lose weight to feel better, so it defeats the whole point of you’re miserable from depriving yourself. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Adam Brammer is Nationally Certified Personal Trainer with more than 10 years of experience.
