Eric J. Lullove DPM PA Adds an Advanced Noninvasive Testing System

Eric J. Lullove DPM PA Adds an Advanced Noninvasive Testing System Designed Specifically to Assess Blood Flow in the Legs and Feet for Patients with P.A.D. and Diabetes.

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Nov. 25, 2014 - PRLog -- Boca Raton, FL – Eric J. Lullove, DPM PA begun diagnosing patients with Peripheral Artery Disease (P.A.D.) using the SensiLasePAD-IQ® System, which evaluates the circulatory conditions in the legs, feet and toes including the smallest arteries near the skin.

The SensiLase PAD-IQ system performs noninvasive peripheral arterial diagnostic tests including the ankle-brachial index (ABI), pulse volume recordings (PVR) and Skin Perfusion Pressure (SPP).

“Noninvasive tests are much less stressful for our patients than some alternative choices,” said Dr. Lullove. “The SensiLase System gives us the value-added information we need to better diagnose disease and thus provide high quality care for our patients.”

The SPP test is especially valuable for physicians who are treating individuals with diabetes and are at a higher risk of developing wounds or ulcers on the feet.  According to the American Diabetes Association, between 60 and 70 percent of people with diabetes experience mild to severe loss of sensation in the feet, often associated with limited blood flow that can lead to the development of foot ulcers. The ADA further reports that amputation of limbs is 10 times more prevalent in these patients than in the general population. Ulcers leading to amputations totaled 72,000 in the US in 2012. Earlier diagnosis, appropriate monitoring and foot care is essential to minimize the necessity of amputation.

“When I am treating a patient with diabetes who has foot ulcers, the PAD-IQ System will tell me with approximately 90 percent accuracy which ulcers are likely to heal with good wound care and which are unlikely to heal despite an optimal wound care program,” says Dr. Lullove, Medical Director at the West Boca Center for Wound Healing. “This level of accuracy greatly improves our ability to provide that individual with the most appropriate and effective wound care possible and coordinate care with other physician specialties when needed.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), diabetes is a growing problem with 21 million adults diagnosed with diabetes and an additional estimated 8.1 million adults who are undiagnosed in the U.S.  The prevalence of diabetes currently at 9.3% of the population is growing with the ADA estimating that one in four individuals born after 2000 will develop diabetes.

The SensiLase PAD-IQ® System is designed, manufactured and marketed by Väsamed, Inc., Eden Prairie, Minn., a technology development company specializing in cost-effective, vascular diagnostic systems for noninvasive hemodynamic monitoring.
