Follow on Google News | Cri-Cri Celebrates 80th Anniversary With Guest Appearance at Huntington Park Christmas ParadeBy: The Way to Happiness “This year commemorates the 80th Anniversary of the “Cri-Cri” character and I am very happy to be able to bring the character to the Huntington Park Christmas parade for the first time. The sound of Cri-Cri is very familiar to this community and has had a lasting legacy in Mexico,” stated Francisco S. Gabilondo the Grandson of Cri-Cri. Gabilondo added, “In commemoration of this special event, I am pleased to present limited editions of “The Way to Happiness” featuring Cri Cri on the cover. This year marked the 64th anniversary of Huntington Park’s “Fabulous Holiday Christmas Lane Parade.” Cri Cri’s appearance in the parade was made possible by the Greater Huntington Park Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Huntington Park who have for years brought joy and happiness to families during the holiday season. The parade attracted thousands of families from surrounding communities which featured floats, high school bands from Los Angeles and Orange County, horse-drawn carriages, equestrian units, dance groups, celebrities, VIP dignitaries and much more. The parade was held on the city’s major downtown shopping district to help kickoff the holiday shopping season for the area businesses. Cri-Cri is a beloved Hispanic character, a cricket created by Mexican music composer Francisco Gabilondo Soler in 1934, who broadcasted his own musical radio show on Latin America’s biggest radio station. Cri-Cri became immensely popular with over 200 songs based on fantasy stories covering a wide range of countries and musical genres. The creator of Cri-Cri is considered the Walt Disney for Hispanic countries and today is regarded as a national legend in Mexico. Cri-Cri appeared recently in Southern California in the cover of The Way To Happiness, a non-religious moral code with 21 precepts based on common sense. More than 100 million of The Way to Happiness booklets have been distributed in 140 countries as a grass-roots movement to recover the most fundamental human values in a wide variety of societies, nationalities and ethnic groups.
