NEW YORK - Nov. 25, 2014 - PRLog -- Innovations in financial markets, technology, and communications have had a profound impact on global financial markets as well as on central banks throughout the world. In the aftermath of the financial crisis, central banks are being called upon to take up an ever-widening set of responsibilities, straining their operating maneuverability and raising concerns about independence. On Tuesday, December 2, 2014, the German Center for Research and Innovation (GCRI) (http://www.germaninnovation.org/) and Women in Sovereign Entities (WSE) (http://www.thewse.org/) will convene a panel discussion on The Impact of Innovation on the Efficacy of Central Banks.

The panel will feature:

·   Lord Mervyn King, Former Governor, Bank of England, and Advisory Board Member, WSE

·   Christine M. Cumming, First Vice President and COO, Federal Reserve Bank of New York

·   Barbara Novick, Vice Chairman, BlackRock

·   Andreas Utermann, Global Chief Investment Officer, Allianz Global Investors

Jon E. Hilsenrath, Chief Economics Correspondent for the Wall Street Journal, will moderate the discussion. Dr. Joann Halpern, Director of the German Center for Research and Innovation, and Sefi Shliselberg, President and Founder of Women in Sovereign Entities, will provide the introductory remarks.

This panel will be hosted by the German Center for Research and Innovation, an initiative of Germany’s Federal Foreign Office, in partnership with Women in Sovereign Entities, the premier global organization serving the sovereign sector in a leadership capacity. The discussion will take place on Tuesday, December 2nd, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the German House (871 United Nations Plaza, First Avenue, between 48th & 49th Streets).

This event is made possible by the generous support of Allianz Global Investors, BNP Paribas Investment Partners, BNY Mellon, and UBS.
