I like Beji's poems. And I believe they will appeal to her readers too. I have managed to convince the poetess that these few lines would be enough; however, what fascinates most is the simplicity of these verses. They are honest and flowing -- as if someone's opened their heart to you. But there is rhythm here. And therefore this is poetry. As renowned poet Ajneya has said, "poetry exists not in language, nor in words, but in the spaces between the words." Beji doesn't squander her words. Familiar experiences and images...night and moonlight, clouds, sky, rain, breeze, ocean and desert, birds and trees, flowers, ashes, sprouting shoots, dreams, empty spaces, shadows and silhouettes-- all these shape her consciousness, her perception of life and death or better to say only life. These are basically love poems. They expand to include life, memory and nature. They search for warmth in every nook and cranny of life. They are looking for salvation in relationships and silence in words. For them, life is surrender. Like Poetry and Love, here Compassion too is an extension of love. Like breath longing for fragrance. Om Thanvi Editor, Jansatta Indian Express Group of Newspapers

About the Author
Beji was born in the Indian state of Rajasthan into an ordinary middle class family hailing from Kerala, another state from southern India. Her perceptions and sensitivities retain the effect of her upbringing and also reveal impressions of varying cultures, religions, languages and experiences while growing up. Always on the move, she never really settled in any place. However, places and people seem to tug to her soul. Her love and special bondage with children drove her to become a pediatrician. She lives with her husband Jaison, son Joel and daughter Catherine in the western state of Gujarat, India.
