Shirley Murdock, Christopher Williams, Erica Dixon, & D'atra Hicks Valentines Weekend

ATLANTA - Nov. 24, 2014 - PRLog -- Not one to believe in coincidences, but how else do you describe a 26 year old from New Orleans who writes, directs, produces, acts; and now has emerged on Atlanta’s entertainment scene with his highly anticipated stage play: What God Joined Together, a play that some are saying is of the caliber of the original, New Orleans’s hit playwright himself, Mr. Tyler Perry.

With two names that are synonymous with the Perry brand, D’Atra Hicks(Madea’s Family Reunion & Laugh To Keep From Crying) and Maurice Lauchner(Madea Gets A Job & A Madea Christmas) and new comer Dathan Thigpen(Madea's Neighbors From Hell) being featured in this production, tied with all the other similarities, its not difficult to see why the question is being raised.

Taking to the stage for three performances only Valentine’s weekend at Georgia Tech’s almost twelve hundred seat theatre, the ambitious Edward Fernandez could either prove to be on the road to becoming like the man he admits is his role model, or just another hopeful amongst an increasing list of many who too aspire to make it big in the entertainment industry.

Inspired by the familiar scripture found in the gospel of St. Matthew: “If a man leaves his father & mother, he is to cleave to his wife; and they are to become one flesh…”  Edward explains how the piece that's creating quite the buzz came to pass.

         "...What I attempted to do is take that scripture and showcase a couple, really a family, because they're many sub stories told within the main one, who didn't handle that "becoming one flesh" process well; and all the laughs, hurts, and pains that come with it, and present it in a provocative way within the limitations of live theatre", he said.

With other show stopping names likeShirley Murdock, Jayh Sings(seen on the Real Housewives of Atlanta), Christopher Williams, and Erica Dixon(from Vh1’s Love and Hip Hop Atlanta)being featured in the play; a live band, and five original songs written by Edward; What God Joined Togetherhas all the makings of a play that is sure to amaze, and one that just may have you asking yourself did you just leave a Tyler Perry Production.
