Expert in Death, Dying and Bereavement Gives Life to New Words

Dr. Kriss Kevorkian, a thanatologist/deaducator, has created a new word that is helping those in grief by understanding how precious our relationships truly are.

GIG HARBOR, Wash. - Nov. 22, 2014 - PRLog -- Griefitude combines the grief we feel when we’ve lost a loved one with the gratitude for having known that loved one, and attitude for consciously acknowledging our grieving process.

Every time a loved one dies, do you ever think about how amazing it was that you actually came together? With all the billions of people on the planet, how was it that you got to meet this one person with whom you've laughed, cried and shared space and time? In the depths of grief, anguish, pain and sorrow, one can't help but also feel gratitude.

While the grief is raw, the gratitude is organic. Add a pinch of good attitude, which might be hard to muster during grief, but remember that life goes on despite the grief. We owe it to those who have died to continue our lives while honoring theirs.

Add the grief, gratitude and attitude together to form Griefitude.

Dr. Kevorkian has a private practice helping clients, and their families, sail through the sometimes stormy seas at the end of life and through their grief. And she hosts a monthly Death Café in her community.
