London Film Company in Charity Fundraiser for the Shakespeare Society of America, Inc

LOS ANGELES - Nov. 21, 2014 - PRLog -- Kit Marlowe And William Shakespeare were friends.  In that spirit a film company acknowledges a debt.

The Kit Marlowe Film Co. plc is collaborating with Tfund, a unit of Cafepress, to produce a unique collectible limited edition t-shirt as a fundraiser for The Shakespeare Society of America, Inc. of Moss Landing, California.

The gold-colored t-shirts have an promotional image for the film company's forthcomiing production of "Christopher Marlowe", a period spy thriller about the Elizabethan-era playwright and poet's other career as spy for the English Crown in defense of his Queen.

"This story is based on fact, " said Executive Producer and screenwriiter Francis Hamit.  "I wrote a play about it, which was produced in Equity Waiver back when the Shakespeare Society still produced plays.  It got excellent reviews."

Despite that, the play was never picked up for another production.  A few years ago, DGA Director Michael John Donahue suggested that it was the basis for a film.  Hamit wrote a script, and then another and then another.  Now the revised story is set for motion picture presentation and will be shot next year in the United Kingdom.  In the meantime, The Shakespeare Society changed its mission to maintaining a museum of Elizabethan and Shakespeare related artifacts originally collected by founder Thad Taylor, who died in 2006, and became a public benefit eductional non-profit insitution under the direction of his nephew Terry Taylor.

"!00% of the profits from these shirts go to the Shakespeare Society.  They are only $25.00 each, and the campaign ends on December 16th," Hamit said.  "This is a way to repay the debt that we owe Thad Taylor's memory.  He took a chance on this script and helped give it life in the theatre.  Now, through our UK company, The Kit Marlowe Film Co. plc, we are going to create a more permanent version for a mass audience.  We had tremendous response to the script at the recent American Fiilm Market, and several companies want to help us make it next year with an A-list cast.

"But without Thad's initial backing we would not have had that first production and those great reviews.  Helping raise some money for the organizatio that is his legacy seems like something we should do, and Tfund makes it very easy to do since they handle all the details."
