IRVING, Texas - Nov. 21, 2014 - PRLog -- IRVING TX (November 20, 2014)—Shoppers have a unique opportunity this holiday season to stock up on and share treasures from the Irving Arts Center's (http://www.irvingartscenter.com) Gift Shop, which is offering gifts inspired by Peruvian Gold: Ancient Treasures Unearthed – on exhibit until December 31, 2014.

The shop features a unique collection of more than 1,500 gifts ranging from ceramic sculptures, copper and bronze masks, ornaments, stockings, nativities, explorer toys, books, jewelry and accessories, most of which are from Peru or made with Peruvian materials.

The top-selling gourd ornaments are available in all shapes and sizes. Each one of these ornaments is hand-painted or hand-carved with designs ranging from tropical flowers to whimsical cats. Other shop favorites include gorgeous hand-woven bags and belts designed with bright, beautiful colors and the incredible handiwork of Jenny Krauss.

Among the jewelry are items from jewelry designer Ginny Taylor, who creates couture designs one piece at a time using semi-precious gemstones, natural stones, pearls and precious metals.

Store Manager Kristi Wiley curated the collection with the customer in mind. She loves helping guests pick out the perfect gift, stating, “It’s always a delight to hear a guest tell us about their ornament-giving tradition or about an aunt who will ‘Just love this necklace.’”

About Peruvian Gold: Ancient Treasures Unearthed

Peruvian Gold: Ancient Treasures Unearthed showcases extraordinary objects from Peru’s pre-Inca heritage, including gold ceremonial and funerary masks, textiles, ceremonial ornaments, ceramics and jewelry. In addition to providing visitors with the opportunity to get up close and personal with stunning examples of ancient craftsmanship, the exhibit also explains how the artifacts reflect the customs, beliefs and ideals of the cultures that produced and utilized them. A map and timeline of Peru’s earliest civilizations serve as the starting point for museum visitors. The exhibition continues with the iconography, craftsmanship and ceremonial heritage of these complex societies.

Free docent-led tours (exhibit ticket purchase required) of the Peruvian Gold exhibition will take place every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m.
