VENICE, Calif. - Nov. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- Venice Beach, California (November 16, 2014) World Wide Mind Gallery is showcasing the photographic work of Steve Goldman, a street photographer, in an exhibition entitled “Children of the World”. The show celebrates the 35th anniversary of the International Year of the Child (IYC), an Executive Order issued by President Carter in 1979 to study children’s rights.

In May 1978, Steve embarked on a one-year around-the-world journey to take photographs that represented the human spirit, “with a focus on the innocence, curiosity and playfulness of children”, explained the artist. “This was a time when the world was not globally ‘connected’, appeared larger, and cultural norms were more distinct and separate”.

Upon his return, 13 images were published in a photo essay he wrote titled “Children of the World” in the Dec,’79 issue of Petersen’s Photographic Magazine.

The 25 color and B&W images of kids from around the globe that make up the current exhibition were all taken on film over the course of his trip in ‘78/’79. The archival photographs were all shot full frame, available in 20X30 & 16X20 sizes.

Ben Nott, noted artist and Chief Creative Officer of World Wide Mind, described the show: “I feel like I can sense the time in the photos - an era past contrasted with the youthful face - a dichotomy of passing time and life - humans seem to ignore this for self preservation”.

The exhibition runs through November 28th at the World Wide Mind Gallery, 1306 Abbot Kinney, Venice Beach; Open daily 10a – 6p. Gallery tel. # (310) 314-3600

The exhibition website is: www.stevegoldmanphotography.com A portion of proceeds to be donated to child advocacy and special needs organizations.
