PLYMOUTH, Mass. - Nov. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- NEW ZEALAND -- Avwatch (www.avwatch.us), a Plymouth, MA business delivering aerial reconnaissance, real time motion video and tactical networking services to government and commercial clients, is partnering with New Zealand based Martin Aircraft Company (MACL) to bring innovative, breakthrough aerial technology to the United States.

People who have grown up with the science fiction concept of “jetpacks,” which can transport an individual into the air, will no longer have to go to the movies to see this technology in action. It’s real, it’s proven and it’s coming to North America.

Avwatch uniquely combines significant experience with rescue helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, aerial imagery, airborne networking and disaster response, which makes it uniquely positioned to introduce and support the sale and distribution of Martin Jetpacks in North America.   The Martin Jetpack can be flown by a pilot or via remote control, for homeland security or first responder applications.

Named as one of Time magazine's Top 50 inventions for 2010, the Martin Jetpack is the world's first practical jetpack, set to revolutionize the industries of aviation, recreation and transportation.

The Martin Jetpack was initially developed in 1981 in response to another jetpack that had a one minute flight-time limit. Thirty years later, the Martin Jetpack has flight capability of over 30 minutes, speeds up to 74 km/h and altitudes above 3000 feet. The Jetpack can be used as a first responder vehicle and also as a heavy lift unmanned air vehicle.

Chris Kluckhuhn, President/CEO of Avwatch, said that the two companies will develop the use of the Martin Jetpack as cutting-edge airborne technology for the United States Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, and other interested federal, state and local agencies.

The two companies will work together on improving specific capabilities targeted at assisting the first responder sector, including search and rescue, security, police, ambulance, fire and natural disaster recovery through the purchase and supply of Martin Jetpacks and relevant products and services. Avwatch will set up a series of demonstrations, both at client sites as well as at a dedicated demonstration facility at their headquarters in Massachusetts. The package will also include a simulator for training and mission rehearsal and the necessary support for all the Jetpack flying.

Chris Kluckhuhn said, “The Martin Jetpack is a disruptive technology, much like the helicopter was when first developed, with substantial capabilities which will be very complimentary to the solutions we can offer our customers.  This is an exciting partnership that allows Avwatch working together with Martin Aircraft Company to offer a unique and powerful solution.”

“It is an honor to be working with Avwatch and together creating the increased value that the Martin Jetpack can bring to Avwatch and to their associated US Government customers,” says Martin Aircraft CEO and Managing Director, Peter Coker.
