BOSTON - Nov. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- Women in Solar Energy (WISE), a 501(c)3 nonprofit and membership organization dedicated to promoting the advancement of women in solar, recognizes the generous support and donations of its contributing sponsors and members. The organization is planning a year-end push for donations in order to reach its first year fundraising goal.

Since formalizing its non-profit status earlier this year, WISE has gained tremendous support in the solar community, including corporate donations from the leading trade associations of the U.S. solar energy industry. Current sponsors include (in order of level ofdonation): Solar Energy Industries Association (founding member), Clean Power Finance, Recurrent Energy, SunPower, the Grid Alternatives – SunEdison Women in Solar Initiative, viaSys Solar Secure, and Sol Systems. “We have a tremendous program in place to support women in solar, but need the continued support of the industry to keep these programs moving forward,” explained Kristen Nicole, Women in Solar Energy’s executive director. “In addition to our financial goals, we are also committed to substantially increasing the number of women in the solar workforce.”

WISE was founded in 2012 to provide a unified voice for women in the industry, as well as support the recruitment and retention of women in the solar workforce. Members have access to a host of resources for women in solar, including access to the Women in Solar Energy mentorship program, workforce development partnerships, and the SheSpeaks Solar program, which aims to get more women speaking at industry conferences.
