Nov. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- Kent State’s College of Business Administration’s chapter of Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization (CEO) hosted Brewing Entrepreneurship giving students the chance to pitch their products and services in a real-world business environment.

“We were very excited to host our second ever Brewing Entrepreneurship event,” said Brandon Ritchey, junior business management major. “We received great feedback from students after our last event in the spring semester and we attempted to outdo ourselves this time. The event was a great success and a lot of fun.”

There were 60 attendees, including students, College of Business Administration faculty and staff, local entrepreneurs and business owners.

Two students pitched their products during the event. The first student, Krista Jordan, sophomore entrepreneurship major introduced her business Flight4thecure, which makes scarves and donates a portion of the proceeds to University Hospitals in Cleveland.

The second student, Brock Bernholtz, senior entrepreneurship major pitched his customer service app InCheck services, which provides customers the ability to track auto repair progress from their local auto garage.

Following the Kent State student presentations, there were two guest speakers; the founders of CitizenSync and owner and founder of Thirsty Dog Brewing Company.

CitizenSync is an Akron based start-up that develops official apps for communities founded by Chris Haynes and Zach Sebo.  The founders spoke about their experience starting CitizenSync and how technology is changing the way we communicate with everyone, including our government.

The featured speaker John Najeway, owner and founder of Thirsty Dog Brewing Co. of Akron, Ohio, shared his insight on sustainability, development and community involvement.

“Najeway from Thirsty Dog Brewery Co. has a wealth of knowledge and is a well-respected entrepreneur in the area,” Ritchey said. “And, it’s always interesting to hear from entrepreneurs still in the start-up phase like the founders at CitizenSync.”

“We really enjoy bringing in new and interesting speakers, as well as giving students the opportunity to network with Kent State faculty and alumni and the business people from the community, “ Ritchey said. “We are all about helping student entrepreneurs continue to network and grow, and this event just happens to deliver that, plus a whole lot of fun.  And, who doesn't love beer?”

Kent State CEO is a nationally-affiliated student organization.
