Society3 introduces safety and privacy reviews for 600 social networks

SAN FRANCISCO - Nov. 21, 2014 - PRLog -- Today, Society3, a business accelerator and online technology provider for fast emerging companies, announces a new privacy information feature for its online connection manager, appearoo. The appearoo feature solves an old problem of internet and social media users for over 600 supported social networks. The new functionality shows which of the sites are considered safe and if they will protect the user’s privacy or not. It is exposing the results and findings on all member profiles and on the list of the company’s website. Though the results may be debated by users, they do have a saying and can influence the reviews.

“Having a privacy policy does not mean that the user's personal data are protected. We saw companies stating very clearly that they collect, use, and share personal data. While this is very accurate, users still believe that the existence of a privacy policy indicates that their personal information is safe and not shared. This is why we started to review each privacy policy for new and highly used networks.” Says Axel Schultze, Society3’s CEO.

The new appearoo is a universal profile page where its owners can share their entire online presence with contacts and the general public to grow their own network and make it easy to get found in the social media maze.  Part of the user’s public profile page is now a little icon to notify users if the social network site protects the users privacy or if it needs added attention. In rare cases it may even show a red flag. For the first time people can get a complete picture of a person they just met online or offline which gives them a huge opportunity to get to know each other much faster.

Another security feature is the new and next generation messaging system. The new ‘SNote’ system provides users the opportunity to share their online presence including a way to get in touch with them without needing to share their email address. Anyone can message anyone who is open for new contacts. Yet the receiver can set filters, forward the message to their email inbox, or even block a person.

The Society3 user base is nearing 2 million users with users in all 196 countries. While most of the features have been geared towards the early adopters and power networkers, the new release is built with today’s online worker in mind. The new and simple UI allows everybody to “appearoo” within minutes to help build connections and followers.
