Birthed out of a desire to help feed and clothe the homeless of Nashville, Candy Christmas began taking huge pots of jambalaya down to the homeless living under the Jefferson Street bridge. After seeing that the need was far greater than just one hot meal a week, Candy began to collect clothing and non-perishable food items to pass out to her friends. She stored it all in her garage and friends volunteered to come over and fill grocery bags with food. The more people that began finding out about this ministry and caught the vision, the faster the ministry grew. Regardless of the weather. While the praise team leads in worship, a team of volunteers serve a hot meal to homeless individuals and families. After the meal, a special guest speaker comes to share a message of hope with those Candy Christmas, the president and founder, calls 'our homeless friends'. At the end of the service, volunteers distribute bags of groceries, toiletries, and new clothes to the guests and offer a weekly drawing which provides free gifts such as bikes, tents, sleeping bags, and other needed items. This weekly 'bridge church service' (not counting volunteers) has an average attendance between 400-600 people and on special occasions, has provided for over 2500 homeless. One such event will take place on December 23 to provide Christmas gifts and food for all. THE BRIDGE TO CHRISTMAS. The Titans players will help serve the meals, interact with the homeless friends of The Bridge Ministry and distribute special Titan sweatshirts, scarves and gloves to bless those in need.
