CAIRNS, Australia - Nov. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- Aaron Finn, chief executive officer of Nautilus Aviation, said the purchase of the US$3.5 million (A$4 million) helicopter would play a key role in the company’s long-term vision for growth in the North Queensland region.

“Earlier this year we introduced the EC130B4, and everyone loved it. This new T2 was the next step for us. Other helicopters in the fleet include EC120, Bell 407, Bell 206L and Bell 206 helicopters, ” he said.

Taking seven months to build, these French helicopters are considered the “Rolls Royce” of the flying industry and Mr Finn believed the additional features would not go unnoticed by those choosing to fly with Nautilus.

“Not only is there a greater payload, there is also dual sliding doors on the cabin allowing for easy passenger loading and disembarking, custom leather seats, as well as an active vibration control system and improved air-conditioning.

“This is the quietest, coolest and smoothest flight anyone will have over the Great Barrier Reef and beyond,” he added.

The purchase of the new T2 brings the total number of helicopters in the Nautilus fleet to 23, following the company’s acquisition of Cape York Helicopters in September this year.

There are currently 18 pilots and a total 42 employees at Nautilus Aviation including three full-time aircraft engineers.

Mr Finn said driving growth in the tourism sector was demand from European countries accustomed to heli transfers and the burgeoning Chinese market.

“The Chinese absolutely love our high end client passenger transfers to the some of the most exclusive and beautiful islands on the Great Barrier Reef including Orpheus and Bedarra islands,” he said.

The new airbus will be able to accommodate six passengers plus the pilot. Further upgrades to Nautilus’ fleet will continue throughout 2015.
